Moving your workflow off a single AI music tool
What actually transfers when you switch: prompts, lyrics, finished audio and rights. A practical checklist before you move anything.
Switching tools is mostly boring logistics. Here is what transfers and what does not.
What transfers cleanly
Your finished audio. Download everything before you cancel anything. Most platforms keep downloads available for a limited window after a subscription ends, and “I’ll get it later” is how catalogues get lost.
Your lyrics. Plain text moves anywhere. Keep the section tags — [Verse 1], [Chorus] — because every major model reads them.
Your prompts. These are more portable than people expect. Genre, mood, tempo and vocal description mean roughly the same thing to every model.
What does not transfer
Seeds and internal IDs. A seed is meaningless outside the model that produced it. You cannot reproduce an exact take elsewhere.
Model-specific phrasing. Prompt tricks that work on one model often do nothing on another. Expect to re-tune.
Anything still rendering. Let the queue finish first.
The rights question
This is the part people skip and it is the one that costs money.
The licence attached to a track is the one that applied when it was generated, under the plan you held at the time. Moving tools does not change the rights on work you already made — but it also does not extend those rights to a platform that never made it.
Before you move:
- Export the audio, the art, and any receipt or metadata showing which model produced each track
- Check whether your commercial rights survive cancellation on the plan you are leaving
- Read the incoming platform’s terms per model, since they are rarely identical
A checklist
- Download all finished audio and artwork
- Export lyrics as plain text with section tags intact
- Save your five best prompts
- Note which model made anything you have released commercially
- Let the render queue drain
- Then cancel
The alternative to switching
If the reason you are moving is “this model is not right for this song”, switching tools does not solve it — you will hit the same wall from the other side in three months.
Running several models on one account removes the decision entirely, which is the argument for not picking one at all.
